Asian and Latin flavours at restaurant Hawker 45, Eixample

Asian and latin flavours at restaurant Hawker 45 in Barcelona makes me wanna go back for more. Hawker though, what is it? I had to google it.

So in Southeast Asia a Hawker centre is a big food court with food stalls were the venders sell their  affordable dishes instead of selling it directly on the street.

It’s a place buzzing with life, vibrant mood, it’s informal, grab something quick or have a meal with family and friends.
Instead of us travelling there, Hawker 45 brings it to Barcelona with a fusion of flavours from Asian and South America.

AT FIRST SIGHT

Restaurant Hawker 45 is homage to Asia and the South American street food, in a refined way. The locale is minimalistic and dominated by the open kitchen and the long red bar, from were we can see all the cooking and preparation going.

If you are really curious about the Asian and Latin fusion cuisine ,grab a seat just by the kitchen were Laila with roots from the Philippines and her international team cooks up a storm. If you want a bit more of intimacy go to the back of the locale. The atmosphere is relaxed, informal and the dim lights just high lighting the food and everybody dining around disappears.

The menu is à la carte but Hawker 45 also offer a tasting menu with 6 dishes chosen by the chef for 35€. You can chose pairing with either cocktail pairing for 60€ or if you’re not a cocktail fan they also offer the tasting menu paired with artisan beer for 42€.

If day time is more your game, why not try their weekday set lunch menu for 12€.

DISHES TRIED AND TESTED

On our first visit to the Asian Latin fusion restaurant we dived right in head first. We wanted to as many food explosions as possible, interesting flavour and texture combinations Hawker 45 could give us.

The selection we savoured,  yes it went slightly over board and we rolled out of there. But it was SO worth it. I would go it all over again.

The dishes are indeed very interesting. I heard that they have a brazilian twist as well, am I wrong? At least I didn´t find it in the plates you tried hehe.

    Un saludo!
