Autumn Food and Wine fairs, Barcelona and Catalonia
The month of September kicks off the Autumn Food and Wine fairs in Barcelona and the region of Catalonia.
All year around, the Catalan region produce a rich pantry that changes with the seasons, something we can see when we weekly visit local food markets around the county.
The different seasons bring a variety of food to our table.
Spring kicks of the year with an explosion of colours, peas and strawberries paints our dishes and excitement for the lighter days and nights that we have a head of us.
Summer brings sweet and ripe fruit and vegetables as eggplant, beets, lettuce and green beans.
When the leaves turn orange, red and fall autumn tells us it’s time for a gran variety of mushrooms, olive oil and chestnuts.
When the temperature drops and winter is taking over different types of cabbage and calçot (variety of spring onion) cover our tables.
A good way to learn more and dive deeper in to the Catalan gastronomy when you visit is by doing a gastronomy food tour, sign up for a cooking class, visit a farm or fishermen at the harbour or visit a museum. Although what I want to recommend in this post are food and wine fairs around Barcelona and Catalonia.
