The neighbourhood Gràcia is well-known to have it´s fare share of good Bodegas, so why not start to list them here on Appetite & other stories, so you all can take part of these traditional locales and of course hopefully in the end see and try them with your own eyes and taste buds!
First out I wanted write about a bar called Bodega Quimet, it´s located on the tranquil little street Vic 23. The mythical bar has been around since the 50´s, first run by the family Quimet for generations.
Then back in the 21st century they sold the bar to the Montero family, they have maintained the classic interior design with old fashion hydraulic tile flooring, tables with marble top, wooden chairs, decorative old bottles, wooden fridges and wine barrels.
At Bodega Quimet they serve tapas – from 3€, mixed assortments of cheese and cold cuts, torradas/toasts made from pan de pages/ traditional bread with different toppings – from 5€ or tinned seafood from “Lolin” – from 3,30€.
When you visit Bodega Quimet in Gràcia you should try the typical drink vermut/vermouth or a glass of wine. But if neither is to you liking of course a beer or soft drink works perfectly with the food.
The wine, vermut/vermouth and cava served at Bodega Quimet can also be bought to bring home, which is always nice when you found a special one you like.
The ambiance is totally relaxed and informal. If you visit during the weekend, be prepared that you might have a hard time to get a table. You might even have to stand half way out the door, but it´s part of the charm. If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle, be there just as they open on a weekday. Then you will pretty much have the place to your self.
