On the brim of the dock at the harbour of Ciutadella, you can find the seafood restaurant Café Balear.
It has just reopen after a whole year of integral renovation. The two floor restaurant has a natural and clean atmosphere were the food is the main focus.
You can still feel the heritage dating back to the 70´s when the restaurant first opened its doors.
Back then it was a fishermen´s tavern where they served fresh seafood, directly from the boats unloading their catch.
Now a days they have their own boat Rosa Santa Primera that catches the main part of the seafood that they serve. They also work with smaller boats on a daily basis to get a wider selection of seafood for their customers.
On the menu at Café Balear you can find the timeless classic Ciutadella Prawns, freshly delivered in the morning and clams with garlic and chilli pepper, don´t forget to dip your bread in the spicy oil.
Their famous Caldereta de Langosta / Lobster Stew or the Lobster with onion are highly recommended. The wine list offers a great selection from national wineries. The restaurants service is great, all of the waiters are friendly and professional.
I recommend you to book your table in advance, especially during the months of July and August as it is the high peak of the year. They don’t take reservations for the terrace.
