This family-run Catalan restaurant that has been in business since 1904 when it started out as a bodega, and for more than 50 years run as a restaurant. Located a 5-minute stroll from Shopping Centre Glories or a 5-minute walk from metro Clot.

AT FIRST SIGHT – MEDITERRANEAN CUISINE CAN PINEDA

When you walk into restaurant Can Pineda you get thrown back in time, traditional handpainted tiles on the walls, wine barrels that were once full to the brim with local wine, now decorating the high parts of the ceiling and tells us stories of another time.

From the dining area, you can look straight into the wine cellar, that used to be the kitchen of the restaurant.

In one of two dining areas, the wall is filled with photos of national and international celebrities that visited the restaurant throughout the years. Faces that I fast recognized scanning the wall were Sean Penn, Gweneth Paltrow, or Barcelona football ex-coach Pep Guardiola.

At Can Pineda, they serve up local cuisine in all its glory, so if you are a fan of what the Mediterranean sea has to offer on the table, both from sea and land this is a spot you need to visit!

They use fresh seasonal and local produce, and as Catalonia is blessed with both sea and mountainous regions the offer is rich in both vegetables, meat and seafood. And don’t be afraid to try some surf n’ turf mix that can be found on the menu depending on the season

DISHES TRIED AND TESTED – MARKET CUISINE CAN PINEDA

We had the great pleasure to visit this gem of a restaurant when both black truffle and the teardrop-shaped green peas from Maresme, (also goes by the name of Llavaneres peas) were in season. Two birds one stone, never better said!

The green teardrop-shaped peas with Iberic ham and onion – to die for.

The green peas from Maresme are just in season for a few months every year.

White wine from the Catalan region Penedés

Gorgeous artichoke terrine with Comte cheese, bacon and black truffle
Poché eggs with Catalan sausage, black truffle and foie gras
A classic rice dish with rabbit infused with rosemary
And at the end a cheesecake with apple and black truffle
