Entre Latas, preserved seafood deli in Sant Antoni.
This little deli sells what is hot stuff in the Barcelonese gastronomy world. it spread like fire over town in the last years, much thanks to the rise of the trend of doing el Vermú / Vermouth and appetizers.
If you like me tried, tested the traditional Vermú and fallen hard for the preserved seafood, you might want pick up a small stock for your home, because an easier meal can be hard to come at.
Having friends over, and you don´t know what to feed them, bring out some fresh bread, open a bunch of different cans: anchovies, cockles, mussels in Escabeche, clams, olives, razor clams, tuna, sardines and olives. No cooking required, just open the cans and dig in!
The little gem Entre Latas on the street Parlament 7, between Calàbria and Viladomat is specialized in preserved food and run by the energetic owner Paola, whom is Italian and been living in Barcelona for the last 28 years.
She is a graphic designer that decided to close one chapter and begin a new, she was looking for a project that she could run herself, were she could fuse two of her greatest passions, food and design (hello cool and colourful cans!).
As we speak she says with a smile that the Spanish producers are finally catching on to the playful language international brands been exploring for a long time.
National and international brands, like Balea, La Gondola and La conserverie la belle-iloise fills the shelves with their colourful designs.
At Entre Latas there´s a delicate selection of vermouths, wine and artisan beer perfect to accompany the delicious cans.
The locale is small, so playing with the high ceiling, the use of light wood and white walls Paola made it feel light and spacious. The sober interior design puts the cans in focus and really makes them pop.
