Gresca bar, Wine bar and plates to share, Eixample
We decided just to go for it, see if we were lucky. We were. We scored two seats in the slim bar by the entrance, no tables available, fully booked. So yes book your seats in advance!
AT FIRST SIGHT
Gresca restaurant and Gresca bar are two different concepts. The restaurant is the older and more elegant sister with white tablecloth and a more formal aire.
Gresca bar is the younger sister, informal, modern and easy going. Entering you find a narrow locale with a long bar at your right, then smaller tables and at the end of the dining area, you dive right into the open kitchen.
By the open kitchen, there is another small bar with few seats to watch the chefs prepare the plates.
The menu fits an A4, plus a hand full of specials of the day on the side, kindly explained by the waiters. Almost all the dishes served at Gresca bar are prepared á la minute in the immaculate open kitchen.
DISHES TRIED AND TESTED
By now you guys know the way we prefer to devour our food is by sharing many plates, to get to savour as many different dishes as possible. At Gresca bar that is what is all about; platillos, smaller dishes thought to share.
We were a company of two, ordering 7 plates between us. Not immortalized on Appetite & other stories; 1/2 Veal brain with butter and lemon 9,75€. According to my partner in crime it was delicious, the veal brain, that is. I can not vouche for it. But all the other dishes were outstanding.
Favourite? Hard to choose, but if we had to say one it would be, the tortilla wrapped in pancetta and topped with caviar. Ace!
