Hotel Negresco Princess, just one block away from Plaça Urquinaona, which is very much centre of Barcelona, only one more block from Urquinaona and you hit Plaça Catalunya.
AT FIRST SIGHT – HOTEL NEGRESCO PRINCESS
This new 4 star hotel is the sister hotel of Barcelona Princess hotel by the Mediterranean sea at Diagonal Mar. The location of Negresco is spot on for everyone wanting a centric hotel while exploring Barcelona on their visit.
So I´m not here to talk about the hotel rooms per say, more about our visit to the hotel restaurant Negresco located on the ground floor.
We visited for lunch midweek, we were greeted by the most friendly and profession restaurant manager, Steve.
A special thanks to you Steve, you made our visit awesome!
It’s so amazing to see people love what they do, and if that’s something you never seen in real life I just say go and see Steve at Negresco.
The dining area has a modern decor, using light wood in both chairs and tables and the natural light fills the space through the enormous glass windows.
Hotel Negresco Princess
At Negresco during the week they serve a set lunch menu for 17€, you can choose from 3 different starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts. Each week head chef Jon García changes the menu.
The mix and types of dishes feel fresh and modern, they really done a good job of creating a flavourful set lunch menu.
DISHES TRIED AND TESTED
As always we wanted to try as many of the different dishes possible. We started off with the mushroom and artichoke stir-fry topped with parmesan shaving and pine-nuts. Smoked salmon and guacamole timbal with sesame and passionfruit coulis.
Mains we opted for the grilled sea bream fillet with creamy celeriac topped with sundried tomatoes and orange. Twice cooked chicken breast with parmentier potato and mustard honey sauce, which is not documented in the photo.
As for the dessert we tried and tested the strawberry and mint soup served in a fun way and creamy vanilla on a biscuit base and wafers of chocolate.
At Negresco they work a market cuisine, using seasonal products, proximity and fair trade.
My favourite dish? Have to say the stir-fry of confit mushrooms and artichoke, I am a sucker for mushrooms.
