Koku kitchen

Over two years ago three guys Ross and Mark from Ireland, together with Swedish chef Bobby decided to open a ramen restaurant, after seeing the Japanese food trend explode around the world.

Spicy vegetarian, miso ramen and mixed salad with sesame dressing

Fast they became the to-go-place for every soul craving a bowl of steaming ramen. Today we can probably call them one of pioneers within the ramen scene of Barcelona.

The locale and ambiance of Koku kitchen is casual. The decoration is modern with wooden tables, marble bar and the menu is written down on a big chalkboard on the wall.

On the menu we can find five different ramen; miso, soya, spicy, vegetarian and spicy vegetarian.

On my visit with a friend we opted for the lunch menu and of course we shared our dishes. We tried for starter a mixed salad with sesame dressing. For mains we ordered miso and spicy vegetarian ramen.
Both of us agreed on that the spicy vegetarian had more flavour and more delicious toppings. It was more up our alley.

Banoffe for dessert!

For dessert we shared a banoffee cake with banana, dulce de leche and cream, crazy tasty and so filling (well it might have something to do with the big bowls of ramen we downed before as well..) and we actually overheard other costumers going absolutely bonkers over the dessert.

** Last spring the guys behind Koku kitchen opened a restaurant specialised in buns in the area Born called Koku kitchen Bun. Just recently they opened the down stairs for their costumers to savour their ramen as well.
