Back in fall 2016, the guys behind Leccabaffi opened their deli shop with the same name on Valencia 341, just on the corner with the street Bailén.

When we visited the new shop they also said that the plans were to open a restaurant next door. Fast forward and Leccabaffi the restaurant, is now open for business.

AT FIRST SIGHT

Walking into Leccabaffi’s dining area was a great surprise, not because it wouldn’t look good, but for the reason that I saw the space before rebuilding started (it used to be the workshop of a locksmith).

Now it’s contemporary space with whitewashed brick walls, a small glass-covered patio letting natural light in. Modern and vintage furniture giving it a cosy feeling and green lush plants to add that little extra.

The à la carte menu is not too long, and you know how we feel about that. Great! They make their own fresh pasta every day, salads, cheese and cold cut boards to share, risotto, tagliata with rocket salad and Parmesan.

And as good Italians, they have pizza and Italian wine!

DISHES TRIED AND TESTED

Our visit to Leccabaffi started off with a selection of Italian charcuterie -from soft to hard and light to strong cheeses and different types of ham and mortadella, 20€.  This board can easily be a shared starter between 4 people before the starters.

The second starter we devoured, scallops in sweet and sour saffron served with a pureé of celeriac, 14€.

The beautiful shellfish was followed up by a pasta dish trofie with pesto, 14€. Who can say no to dirty Maria´s pesto?

For the main dish, we tried the pork fillet with crispy mustard cover, 16€.

To finish we had a parfait made with the famous almond liquor Amaretto, 7€.

As always we shared all the dishes. We clearly ordered too much food for 2 people ( note to oneself, don’t order when super hungry), we could have done with one plate less.

Favourite dish? Scallops in sweet and sour saffron served with a pureé of celeriac!
