The Michelin star restaurant Les Cols is located in a traditional Catalan Masia in the outskirts of Olot the capital of the county of La Garrotxa, Catalonia.
Fina Puigdevall chef and owner of the 2 star Michelin restaurant Les Cols spent her childhood in the Masia, which since 1990 also been the home to her restaurant. She runs the restaurant with her husband Manel Puigvert who is headwaiter in the dining area.
In 2005 Les Cols were recognized with its first Michelin star and five years later 2010 the restaurant received its second Michelin star.
At Les Cols Fina Puigdevall and her team works with seasonal and locally grown products of the area La Garrotxa, to create a minimalistic, humble, sincere cuisine that is balanced and in harmony with its surroundings.
The dining area is the mix of traditional structure with modern elements, golden details and blackened metal. The restaurant is divided in to various spaces, three smaller private rooms, the central dining area of the restaurant has one long table that can seat over 40 persons. The last dining area has an enormous glass wall with a great view of the chickens in the garden. With this last space their clients can feel the connection nature that they also transmit in the cuisine.
Outside there´s a garden where the more or less three hour dining experience can start and finish.
At restaurant Les Cols the guest can choose between two menus, Garden & henhouse inspired and based on the products garden and henhouse of the restaurant gives. Here they treat the sustainable kitchen, km0 and its more plant based, they do use egg, fish. We do find meat the starters that are shared with the second menu.
We chose the latter, Summer & nature, which bring attention to the seasonal products from the countryside of La Garrotxa. Here we find dishes with milk, fish, meat and vegetables from the garden. The menu is set with 20 dishes; starters, mains and dessert and can be accompanied with a wine tasting menu.
We had a great dining experience, where simple and wholesome ingredients were prepared with care to bringing out the best of flavours.

At the end of our visit we were invited to see the kitchen, which was already cleaned up and prepared for the following service later on that afternoon. In the middle of the kitchen, in between all the steel, there was a beautiful glass patio letting the natural light enter the space and giving it a Zen feeling
