In the beginning of July I went back home to Sweden for a weekend. Sweden showed itself from it´s best side with 28 degrees Celsius, clear blue skies and a bright shining sun. I visited my parents, brother and grandma in my hometown Sala and I had a day in Stockholm with my sister and nieces.
We ticked a few boxes of the Swedish must-summer-list. Chilling in the park, a plate or two with Swedish strawberries and milk, eating ice cream with salty liquorice sprinkles while admiring the view of Stockholm from Fjällgatan,Södermalm.
Also on my must-summer-list is having some quality Swedish seafood. So while in Stockholm I just had to have the great Swedish classic Toast Skagen and Swedish Cod, that I had been dreaming of since I booked the flight back in February.
What other place then restaurant Lisa Elmqvist would fulfil my needs better? So said and done, we headed over to Lisa Elmqvist at Östermalms Saluhall for an impeccable lunch!
The restaurant in located inside the Food Market Östermalms Saluhall in central Stockholm, it was founded back in year 1888. The market counts with high quality ingredients and cooked dishes from the Swedish and international cuisine.
The dining area with it´s wooden tables and white and blue checked tablecloths gives the restaurant a relaxed and inviting atmosphere were they put the food in focus. As you are in the middle of the Food Market it’s a great place for people watching and if your lucky you might even see some Swedish celebrities!
To start I ordered a Toast Skagen. Which is typical starter at Swedish dinners made with shrimps and other ingredients served on a small piece of sautéed bread. For second dish I chose steamed back of Cod with egg, shrimps and Beurre Noisette.
Both of the dishes were flawless, perfectly prepared. They use quality ingredients and fresh seafood, which you can instantly tell. The service is very professional, if you need advice when you see all these goodness on the menu, they will sort you out.
If you love seafood this is a must on your To-Eat-List in Stockholm.
