Mayer artisan bakery in Gràcia, Barcelona.
Just off the street Torrent d’Olla and a 20-second stroll to plaça Vila de Gràcia on Carrer Deluvi 11, you find this gem of a bread and pastry shop.
On my visit to the barkery, people just did not stop to come by to get their sourdough bread, double-baked almond croissant (delicious!), flaky croissant, traditionale françoise baguette or other loaf or pastry. One man I actually thought were going to empty the shop!
Bakery Mayer got good products that for sure. They have only been open in Gràcia since March this year, nevertheless, they have quickly got a faithful fan club that keeps growing each day!
They work only with quality ingredients. Their flours are all organic and locally sourced, including a selection of different kind of grains like spelt, Kamut, rye, buckwheat in their bread.
Only for the traditionale françoise dough they use a special flour from France, well only the best is good enough for the French baguette. Right?
And how is the bread maker/pastry chef behind these high-quality pastries and pieces of bread and where has he been all our lives?
Eran Mayer is a German/Israelian baker, who was trained in France at the prestigious Ecole Ferrandi. He worked all over the world, at one point he had three bakeries in Singapore, at another point he ran a successful bakery in Paris. This Parisian boulangerie was ranked as one of the ten best bakeries for his baguette of traditionale française.
Well, in other words, this man knows his shit.
