In a small narrow street in the district of Born you can find the little Italian / Catalan restaurant Meneghina.
It caught my eye a long time ago, but I never gotten around to visit. But last week we decided to try it out, finally.
The restaurant is small, with a capacity of just 25 clients at a time. Its all painted white, in the irregularities of the brick walls they decorated with cups and plates.
If you have a good eye, you can even see a flamenco dancing plastic doll, all white of course. The white paint, the ceiling fan and the light entering from the street gives the restaurant a relaxing and cosy ambience.
As we visited during lunch hour we went for the set menu, but they also have the la Carte menu. The lunch menu had a selection of plates, like salad, pasta, fish and meat. You can choose from a three-course menu. Also included in the price beverage and bread.
They work with seasonal and locally produced ingredients. They also have a selection of natural wines, which can otherwise be tricky to find in a restaurant.
The service was very good, the Italian waitress fast and willing to help. If you look for a nice calm meal without stress, off the tourist streak and to enjoy good food, this is the place to go.
As the restaurant is small I would recommend booking in advance.
