Mont Bar, Restaurant, Eixample

Mont Bar in the district Eixample has been on my list for a while. The corner location is spot on.  It´s black awnings, the black double doors framing the big windows and the warm light coming form the inside makes it very attractive and welcoming.

Once inside, you have this beautiful marble and brass bar with seats, small tables and one big table for bigger parties. The rich decoration and light in the dining area gives a cosy atmosphere.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon without a reservation, the terrace was full, but we got a table inside.  The staff was very attentive and friendly, they explained that the menu consists of small dishes and tapas, perfect for sharing.

The menu constantly chances according to the season, the products are fresh, locally produced and organic. The wine list is very good, with over 250 references!

We decided on a selection of plates to share between the two of us. We tried the Red Prawns from Palamos  which was not on the menu. Then we had Blue Finn Tuna tartar with eggplant and horseradish, Scallop ceviche with Sea Urchin, Poached egg with artichoke soup and foie gras, and suckling pig with Cantonese sauce.

For dessert we shared one ice cream made from sheep´s milk with honey and one covered strawberries and warm black current liqueur sauce.

All the dishes we had were very good, traditional cuisine with a sophisticated touch.

I recommend booking in advance, as it´s usually crowded.
