Parallelo Italian gelato in Grácia
The month of August just started and Barcelona is hotter than ever. What’s your remedy to beat the heat? One of mine has become a scooter ride up to Parallelo Italian gelato in Grácia.
This Italian gelato gem is located on the tranquil street Seneca. Just a stone throw from busy Avenida Diagonal and emblematic Passeig de Gràcia.
The owners and team members of Parallelo are Francesco, Marco, Gianluca and Matteo, childhood friends all originate from coastal city San Remo in northwestern Italy.
Every day the team elaborates from scratch homemade gelato, sorbet, ice lollies and also during the warm summer months ice lollies for dogs.
As you visit the shop you can have a look through the big glass window into the lab where all the gelato, sorbet, ice lollies are made.
The guys from Parallelo Gelato have lovely fresh and exciting flavours to offer their clients. What about pineapple and basil sorbet? Or gelato made with a blend of raw and roasted Catalan pistachio? Or orange sorbet with vanilla Bourbon?

“Gelato is the Italian word for ice cream. It starts out with a similar custard base as ice cream, but has a higher proportion of milk and a lower proportion of cream and eggs (or no eggs at all). It is churned at a much slower rate, incorporating less air and leaving the gelato denser than ice cream.
Gelato is served at a slightly warmer temperature than ice cream, so its texture stays silkier and softer. Because it has a lower percentage of fat than ice cream, the main flavor ingredient really shines through.”
