Picnic just opened the doors to their new takeaway shop and bar on Carrer Taulat 138, between the streets Espronceda and Bac de Roda, just a 5 minute walk from the beach.
To celebrate Picnic invited a small group of foodies over to try their creative and tasty takeaway food, and what a feast they had prepared for us!
The owners of Picnic, Brett and Natasha invited us to savour a selection of their dishes from the kitchen, first out was a watermelon gaspacho full of flavour perfect on a hot summer day.

After they brought out pretty pink vegan beetroot and lemon fussilini, Thai chicken penne and an organic quinoa with roasted red peppers, pistachios, olives and a Moroccan pesto sauce. As for the hot main dish they served a big mixed barbeque plate with chicken, ribs, sausage, baked potato and two different sauces.Lunch in the sun at Picnic, Poblenou

I think I can speak on behalf of everyone of us, when I say that we got amazed by the food. All the dishes were fresh, full of flavours, the taste combinations were totally different one plate from another.

The ribs presented on the BBQ plate, I could easily have had another 10 of them, perfectly crisp on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside!
For dessert they bring out two different kinds; in a shot glass comes organic baked oats with a banana mousse and the second dessert a tart with apple, vanilla and chocolate. The perfect end to a great meal.

As we squeeze down the last bits of dessert Brett and Natasha sits down with us and fills us in on the history and the philosophy of their business Picnic. When they tell their story I can see they really love what they do.
The company Picnic started more then six years ago preparing and selling their dishes to local businesses in Barcelona. They brought over the concept from London after seeing a gap on the Barcelonese market. Three years ago they started to play around with the idea of opening a shop to the general public. Fast-forwarding to 2016, they fulfilled their dream, the new shop and bar opened it´s doors in June in Poblenou.

The locale is petit with the freshly made food on display. Out side they have a lovely sunny terrace where their customers can enjoy their food and drink, or why not head down to the beach or to one of the green parks in the area.
