Pop up Miss Saigon – Esencial by Isma Alonso is a new concept restaurant performed out of an URBox container that will travel throughout Spain.
On the rooftop of the biggest shopping centre in Barcelona, La Maquinista, we find the first chef to host a portable pop up kitchen and it’s no other then renown chef Ismael Alonso, Executive Chef at Mandarin Oriental in Barcelona.
New gastronomic concept Pop up Miss Saigon – Esencial by Isma Alonso
URBox is a new gastronomic concept launched by Unibail-Rodamco, their goal is to find new local talents around Spain and work with them. With each chef, the objective is to compose a limited and timeless menu in different shopping centres around Spain.
The pop-up restaurant is designed using recycled maritime cargo containers and adapted with the necessary infrastructure to condition the space as a restaurant. Do to is the size (160m2) and how it’s designed it can easily be folded and transformed to handly be moved within 24h from one corner of Spain to another.
Chef Ismael Alonso is no newbie when it comes to the kitchen. He has worked with great Spanish chefs; Sergi Arola, Martín Berasategui, Andoni Luis Aduritz and Ángel León. Since 2014 as Executive Chef at Mandarin Oriental.
With URBox new concept Pop up Miss Saigon – Esencial, Ismael Alonso is the first chef to approach this contemporary idea. He designed a menu were his clients can savour sandwiches, soups and salads from around the globe without leaving Barcelona.
Favourite? My favourite at Pop-up Miss Saigon – Esencial by Isma Alonso have to be the taco with tender pork cheek.
