Racó de Mariner, Seafood restaurant, Barceloneta

So if you like me LOVE fresh seafood, keep on reading! I want to tell you about restaurant Racó del Mariner down in Barceloneta, hidden on the fishermen´s dock.

NEW ADDRESS!!! Port Forum Carrer port esportiu, Local 1, 08930 Barcelona

You enter from the street Escar into the dock and yes I tell you straight away BOOK you table in advance, it gets jammed!

So what is this place all about, right? No craziness, just fresh, simple and delicious seafood right of the boat!
Xavi from Racó del Mariner tells us they have their own fishing boat that brings in three times a day three different types of load; oily fish, white fish and shellfish.

The menu is simple and the waiter will tell the dishes of the day. On our visit, they had fresh monkfish 18€/plate and hake 16€/plate in Mariner sauce (special sauce of the house) and fried common sole 14€/plate. As we were three of us we took the three for the main course and ordered Tallarinas for a starter 12€/plate, sorry but I don’t know the name in English, but I can tell you they are delicious!

Also on the menu at Racó del Mariner you can find classic dishes like Paella and Fideuá, fried seafood or a mixed seafood platter.

Racó del Mariner is not fancy, at all. It´s all a real workers /fisherman´s place (so white linen napkins), people are here to eat good food for a good price.

I made the reservation (well in advance) for 13.00h and at this time the workers from the dock were finishing their lunch but I could see that all the tables had reservation notes on them, within 30 minutes / an hour the place was packed with locals and tourists.

They have a dining area indoor and a covered terrace that’s equally big or bigger. The service is fast and (excuse the language) no bull shit, here they go straight to the point.

We had in total one starter to share, three main courses, two desserts, one coffee, water (bottle of 1,5liter) and a bottle of house wine and bread with tomato for just under 70€.

I will for sure be back soon to try that seafood platter that you can see in the photo, yes I ran over to a table of strangers and asked if I could snap one, (thanks to the kind Italian couple!).

Racó del Mariner´s opening hours:
Monday to Friday 07.00h -17.00h
Saturday and Sunday closed
