The street Torrent de l´Olla in Gràcia is a street with more part narrow sidewalks, but when I reach the street number 137 it´s slightly wider and it feels like the sunbeams are pointing me in the right direction, I arrived at Uay Balam.
The little shop with the curious name Uay Balam is specialized in pastries and ice cream all done with love and care. The three owners Fausto, Nuria and Ana are united for their love of ice cream, English tea time and pastries, and aren´t we luck to be able to buy their beautiful creations!
The name Uay Balam comes from the Mayan culture, Uay mening sorcerer and Balam meaning Jaguar, they used the combination of the two word call on the higher forces to protect crops and the fields.
To prepare these little picture perfect pleasures the guys at Uay Balam use organic and most seasonal ingredients. In the offer we find sweet treats like carrot cake, key lime pie and cheese cake. The ice cream loli´s are basically guilt since they are made with Greek yogurt and covered with dark chocolate and a healthy nut and seed.
Recently they added to the offer, what I think will be a winner, their own homemade Granola. It comes in bags of 400gr contains almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, oats and honey. Great with the breakfast yogurt, midmorning snack with milk or why not instead of crisps when you watch a movie?
Uay Balam´s opening hours:

Friday and Saturday 12.00h – 23.00h
