Barcelona and Catalonia are famous for their traditional Mediterranean food as well for their Michelin star chefs offering delicate and creative cuisine at their restaurants. Healthy food from both the sea and the mountain are implemented in the Mediterranean diet.
To accompany this amazing cuisine what could be better than a glass of local wine? Catalonia has a long winemaking tradition and is the birthplace of the Spanish sparkling wine Cava (Penedès). At this day Catalonia is one of the most important and recognized wine regions in Spain and the Catalan wine are known worldwide.
The most famous wine regions in Catalonia are; Priorat (DOC), Montsant (DO), Terra Alta (DO), Penedès (DO), Alella (DO) and Conca de Barberà (DO).
If you want to get closer to the core of the wine business it’s fully possible to do a day tour to all of the stated regions, obviously not all on the same day.

Cellarer has been around for 4 years and sells both Spanish and international wines, cavas and champagne. The owners are Argentinian and focus a great deal on Argentinian wines. They offer wine tastings in their bar with the same name on c/ Mallorca 211, just around the corner from the store. Open from 17h Monday to Saturday.

Colmado Quilez is a classic in the centre of Barcelona focusing on Spanish wines, although with a small selection of international wines. There is all so a gourmet shop connected to their celler were you find Spanish delicatessen.
DiVí is a family-owned wine store specialising in Catalan wines from smaller bodegas. They have a small selection of international wines mostly centred on French wines. Just across the street, they have a second wine store Can Cannes where they do wine tastings. They do wine tastings on a daily basis at 20h were you get the possibility to try new wines.
Celler del Ninot is a small wine store with Spanish wines and specialised in Catalan wines and cavas. They offer a small selection of wine by the glass that you can sip in the entrance of the shop. In the store owner Sergí carries the hyped Catalan bodega Sicus a personal project from the young winegrower Eduardo Pie, Massis de Bonastre.

The sommelier Varinia runs for 4 years the store La botiga de’n Tonet were they offer a selection of Spanish and Catalan wines and cavas. We can also find a smaller selection of international wines from France, Austria, Italy, Chile and Germany.

Wine store La Vinícola is run by Manuel and Victor, here you can find Catalan wines from small and medium-sized wine producers. Also in their offer, you can find wines from France. They specialise in wine from Roussillon, the Catalan part of France. They do wine tastings open to the public every two weeks, to try 5-6 wines for 15€. Included in the price you get a voucher of 10€ to spend in the store.
The family-run wine store is specialised in Catalan wines from small winemakers from around the different regions. They also carry a smaller selection of international wines from France and Germany. Two times a month they do a free wine tasting were a sommelier from the winegrower comes to present the different wines. Normally done on Thursday and Friday, to find out about the dates check out their social media.
